We focus on growing the whole child. As an extended year and extended day school, we utilize our additional time to teach scholars leadership traits and social emotional skills as well as focused academics.

Student Supports

Transportation is provided for all GCS addresses to allow for scholar enrollment from all over Guilford County.

Scholars social and emotional needs are served by a full time School Counselor and full time School Social Worker via mediations, classroom guidance, and small and individual counseling.

Scholars academic needs are served through certified Exceptional Children teachers, and appropriate therapies.

Academic, Social, Behavioral, and Attendance interventions are provided for any scholars who show need for additional supports.

Points of Pride

Character & Service: The faculty and administration of Allen Jay Preparatory Academy recognize the dignity, worth, and unique learning ability of each child. Positive self-concept is fostered through a child-centered organization which help the student develop good attitudes towards themselves and others.

Academic Challenge: Our educational program accommodates the transition from elementary to high school by balancing structure with flexibility. The educational program is broad and includes the acquisition of grade level skills. At the same time, it allows equal learning opportunities for students with various abilities and interests.

Innovative Instruction: Teachers provide engaging instruction designed to inspire and motivate scholars toward independent learning. Strategies incorporating movement, music, technology, and the arts to provide scholars with the most exciting educational experience offered in a public school.

Leadership Development: Our aim is to provide opportunities for leadership development and practice to enhance each scholar's growth and maturity. Scholars will be prepared for current and future leadership roles. Scholars will have individual and collective responsibility for their behavior, service, and learning.

Effort & Commitment: Scholars and staff commit to the challenge of working hard to achieve success. Families are active partners by both holding their scholar accountable and serving in the school program.

Academics

Scholars begin each school day in our Morning Rally to build school community and receive a unified Leadership Lesson from Principal Bradley. We provide rigorous instruction to all while also providing differentiation as needed through EC services, Supplemental and Intensive interventions, and Academically Gifted instruction.

Student Life

Allen Jay Prep offers all of the same sports that traditional middle schools offer. Each scholar participates in a music class. We host Club days once a month to allow scholars to explore and participate in different interests
